The Center for the Study of Education Policy collects and organizes information, conducts research, and brings the results of research into the everyday world of school administrators, governmental leaders, and higher education policymakers in Illinois and across the country. Renowned for its work in education finance, the Center also excels in education leadership development, school improvement programs, higher education finance, and school-college partnerships.
Located at Illinois State University and housed within the College of Education, Center initiatives support the University's goals of serving the citizens of the state and beyond. Established in 1960, the Center for the Study of Education Policy conducts applied research and performs public service related to current and emerging policy issues affecting the whole education continuum (P-16 and beyond). Important to the mission of the Center is the intersection of research and practice as represented by publications (Grapevine, Planning and Changing Journal, and Illinois State Education Law and Policy Journal), conferences, and service to education institutions, professional organizations, and government. Through these activities, the Center provides research and public service opportunities to faculty and graduate students.
